The privately held company has gathered or verified geospatial data for more than 2,100 counties nationwide on behalf of clients including the U.S. Census Bureau and Federal Aviation Administration.
George said the company's work represents only a small percentage of the geospatial data being gathered for public and private agencies.
While the company's client base has not grown, contracts from existing clients have increased with the demand for geospatial data. Opportunities for companies with dual expertise in IT and geographical sciences will continue to grow with the needs of the Department of Homeland Security, Price said. The department allotted more than $1 million in IT grants for geospatial technology in September.
That same month, U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced new investments totaling close to $4.9 million for the workforce needs of the geospatial technology industry.
"There's a big push from the federal government as well as private industry," Price said.
